Trent Alexander-Arnold reveals what he wants from Virgil van Dijk after Liverpool's win over Brighton

Trent Alexander-Arnold had a cheeky request for Liverpool team-mate Virgil van Dijk after the win over Brighton.

The Dutchman bagged himself a brace as the Reds extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 11 points with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brighton at Anfield .

The centre-back’s brace was put on a plate for him by the West Derby-born full-back, who now has 24 assists for the club.

Van Dijk’s first goal came via an Alexander-Arnold free-kick after just 18 minutes, before the defender made it 2-0 six minutes later finishing from the England international's corner.

And taking to Instagram afterwards, Alexander-Arnold was quick to remind his team-mate of his assists, writing: “Virgil owes me dinner #YNWA.“

Liverpool lost goalkeeper Alisson 15 minutes from time when he was dismissed for a handball outside of the box.

Before Lewis Dunk halved the deficit from the resulting free kick, but Jurgen Klopp’s side hung on in the closing stages to maintain their unbeaten start to their domestic campaign.
