Trent Alexander-Arnold reveals Fantasy Football impact on his Liverpool career

Kop full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold was in dreamland last season, winning the Champions League and missing out on the Premier League by a solitary point.

The 20-year-old led the way with an impressive haul of 12 assists in 29 Premier League games as well as a stunning quick corner at Anfield, which helped Liverpool beat Barcelona and reach the Champions League Final.

They were stats that saw the youngster showered with praise by Jurgen Klopp and England boss Gareth Southgate.

And it has made him a popular choice for right-back in Fantasy Football teams across the country.

“Getting compared by numbers and outputs from games, and clean sheets and assists, especially from a full-back’s perspective is part of being a footballer,” he said.

“There is a definite need to know what numbers you’re on and where you need to get to.

“But, in terms of banter with friends on Fantasy Football, it’s not something I take much notice of.

“I think the full-back role has definitely changed from what it used to be and full-backs are becoming more and more important to teams.

“And it is down to the likes of me and Andy Robertson, who have to provide the width and balls into the box.

“A lot is demanded of the position – and we are maturing as a team.”
