Trent Alexander-Arnold played entire Liverpool win over Aston Villa with badge upside down

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold played the entirety of the game against Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon with the Premier League badge on his sleeve upside down.

Alexander-Arnold silenced his critics in the most perfect way possible, drilling in the winner against Dean Smith's side.

The right-back cut inside from the edge of the area and curled the ball past Emiliano Martinez in the final minute of the game.

Fans were stunned by the goal, which was his second of the Premier League campaign so far.

And eagle-eyed supporters were surprised to see that he played the entire match with his Premier League badge upside down on his sleeve.

The badge, which was printed on the sleeve of his shirt above the 'No Room For Racism' print, was upside down, though the rest of the printing was the right way around.

Alexander-Arnold was the subject of much discussion this week, with Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher clashing over whether he deserves a place in Gareth Southgate's England squad this summer.

The right-back has endured a difficult campaign so far, and was left out of the England squad for games against San Marino, Albania and Poland.

Jurgen Klopp congratulated Trent Alexander-Arnold after the game (GETTY)

And speaking after the win, Jurgen Klopp threw his support behind the youngster.

He said: "For the player, especially, he wants to be in the squad. But I really think we don't have to talk much more.

"A wonderful player, Gareth agrees but he makes a decision and we respect that. Nothing to talk about.

"I have to make big decisions every day like Gareth. Just let the boy play football and we say no more. It's a made-up story, if you like.

"Trent played exceptional v Arsenal and today. Real Madrid, we don't have to hide that, the second goal, of course. That's football.

"He just has to play football. Nothing to do with national team, just to develop. That is what he is doing. Just don't talk anymore about it"
