Trent Alexander-Arnold on his Celtic U-turn as Liverpool hero reveals his soft spot for Rangers

Liverpool icon Trent Alexander-Arnold admits the Steven Gerrard factor at Rangers has altered his allegiances north of the border.

The 21-year-old Kop star is regarded by many as the best right-back on the planet with his wicked deliveries earning comparisons with David Beckham.

And now Alexander-Arnold admits he was once all about Celtic but Gerrard's switch to Govan has changed everything and he now cheers on both sides.

He told GQ: “Growing up I was Celtic, but now, because of the connection (Steven Gerrard at Rangers ), I’m probably neutral up there now."

Alexander-Arnold's is adored by the Liverpool faithful because of his ability but his connection with supporters is strengthened due to his Scouse roots.

And that's something the England international cherishes but he reckons the Reds are welcome to anyone who gives their all.

He added: "I think it’s well known here that the fans are special and they love the players more than anything, but it’s not just about the fans.

"It’s whether you fit the city and the environment that you’re living in, whether the people accept you, if you feel at home, if the family feel at home.

"I think Liverpool is probably one of the easiest in that regard, because as soon as you come in you are accepted – you know that."
