Trent Alexander-Arnold named Liverpool's most valuable player as Kylian Mbappe price drops

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been named as Liverpool’s most valuable transfer asset in a new report.

The Reds right-back has been one of his side’s standout stars over the last few years, helping the club to Champions League and Premier League glory.

Alexander-Arnold was one of Liverpool’s stand-out players during their Premier League-winning campaign last season, contributing 13 assists and four goals.

And although the Anfield academy graduate has been under plenty of scrutiny for some of his performances this season, his transfer value has actually risen.

According to the number crunchers CIES, Alexander-Arnold is worth between £90 and £120million and the eighth most valuable player in the world as a result.

The England international’s value also makes up 12 percent of the Liverpool squad value, with Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford top of the list.

The forward’s impressive performances have made him the most valuable player in the world, with him responsible for 14.8 percent of the United squad's transfer value.

Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland is second on the list, with Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix's in third, and Manchester City star Phil Foden in fourth.

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool over the past year, comes in fifth, while Chelsea's Tim Werner comes in one place above Alexander-Arnold.

However, Mbappe's fifth place placing is due to his current contract situation with the Ligue 1 club. The Frenchman's current deal expires at the end of the 2021/22 season and therefore, his transfer value is decreasing by the day.

CIES Football Observatory, according to their website, has developed the powerful algorithm to assess the transfer value of professional football players on a scientific basis.

The data experts combine a list of factors including contract length, the standard of the league they are playing in, their age, and international performances.
