Trent Alexander-Arnold injured as Liverpool handed another concern at Man City

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the latest Liverpool defender to suffer an injury after he was withdrawn midway through the game at Manchester City.

The Reds right-back went down with what appeared to be a calf injury after a sprint during the second half at the Etihad.

Alexander-Arnold was checked over by the Liverpool physios before he was taken off for James Milner shortly after the hour mark.

The Reds defender will now be assessed and could undergo a scan to determine the full extent of the problem.

The injury throws Alexander-Arnold's participation in the upcoming England fixtures into doubt over the next fortnight.

It is the latest setback for Jurgen Klopp who has been besieged by injuries throughout the Premier League season so far, particularly in defence.

Virgil van Dijk has been ruled out for virtually the entirety of the campaign after undergoing surgery on an ACL problem this month, while Fabinho has been absent of late after a hamstring issue picked up against Midtjylland in the Champions League.

Joel Matip has only recently returned to the team after a five-game absence also, meaning Klopp has had to play the inexperienced duo of Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams alongside Joe Gomez in Liverpool's last two games.
