Trent Alexander-Arnold explains how Jurgen Klopp has helped shape his Liverpool career

Trent Alexander-Arnold has talked up the impact Jurgen Klopp has had on his career, stating the Liverpool manager has given him "everything".

The Reds' right-back was handed his senior debut in the Premier League by Klopp away at Manchester United in January 2017, and Alexander-Arnold has made close to 100 appearance already, having just turned 21 this week.

Alexander-Arnold 's 97 games before his 21st birthday is more than Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard at the same age, with both players ending their time at Liverpool with 737 and 710 appearances, respectively.

Two of those 97 included the 2018 and 2019 Champions League finals, with the West Derby-born defender being the youngest player to ever make successive appearances in the biggest game in club football.

Alexander-Arnold credited Klopp with giving him a chance to make a name for himself in the first team of his boyhood side and said the Reds boss' commitment to talented youngsters has enabled him to become a success with the club he joined as a six-year-old.

Blood Red: Trent Alexander-Arnold embodies LFC through and through

Asked what Klopp has done for his career, the Champions League winner told Liverpoolfc.com: "Everything.

"Obviously without him who knows what would’ve happened. He’s the one that’s given me the most opportunities, more than I can even ask for.

"He’s obviously put a lot of trust and faith in me personally and I’ve tried to repay him every time he’s done that. Obviously a massive thanks to him and hopefully there will be four more years of success.

"Within his first few weeks, he was down at the Academy watching the young lads. That almost gave us a bit more faith and gave a statement to the club that he is going to use young players and give us them chances.

"He's shown over the four-year period that he has given them young players the chances and given opportunities - and obviously I'm one of them youngsters that have been given them."
