Trent Alexander-Arnold details mood in Liverpool camp ahead of Tottenham clash

Trent Alexander-Arnold has warned that Liverpool must not overthink the issues behind their devastating collapse in form.

And instead he believes the Champions can use the challenge of facing perennial top four rivals Spurs to kickstart their faltering campaign, and rediscover the mentality which brought them success in the first place.

The Reds visit Jose Mourinho’s side on Thursday, and Alexander-Arnold said: “There’s no-one else to blame is ourselves…so it’s down to us to go out there and get wins.

“But we can't be too critical. We have been looking at it and we've been trying to improve without trying to overthink it. We've tried not to look into it too much and get ourselves down.

“But we know that there's things that we need to work on - it's just about getting back into our rhythm, and get back to what was working best for us the last few years.”

Liverpool’s biggest strength during their remarkable two years of trophy hunting was their mentality, with the Premier League winners showing a ‘never say die’ attitude.

That is required now more than ever, after a horror run of five games without a Premier League win since Christmas, and just one goal in that period.

But before that depressing spell, they beat Palace 7-0 and also won a thriller at Anfield against Tottenham, with what Alexander-Arnold believes was their best display of the campaign.

“That's probably one of the best games we've had all season, so we're excited to go head to head again and see what happens. We'll have a game-plan, the intention is to get all three points, and if we carry it out the way we want to then I'm sure we will.

“We don't really care what score it is, we just want the three points. Whether it be 4-3 or 1-0, it doesn't make a difference to us. I think if our mentality and performance is right on the day then we've got a good chance of doing that.”
