Trent Alexander-Arnold delivers passionate anti-racism speech with rallying cry to Liverpool teammates

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has delivered a powerful speech calling on the Premier League and professional footballers to continue using their platforms to discourage racism.

Premier League footballers will don 'Black Lives Matter' across the back of their shirts in every fixture across the weekend.

This follows protests throughout the UK and in America over the death of George Floyd.

With Premier League footballers in the spotlight over the 'black lives matter' campaign, Alexander-Arnold has issued a timely reminder to his fellow teammates and rivals that they must be a leading voice in the campaign against racism.

"Whether I'm at the front or the back, I just want to be part of change," Alexander-Arnold told BT Sport.

"I want to see some change, I want to use my platform in any way that is needed. Whether that is posting pictures, getting involved with things, who knows what it will be?

"I'm sure when people think of the ideas or the things that need to happen, I'll definitely be a part of it.

"It's something I believe in, it's something I've been educated in a way to know what is right and wrong.

"For us footballers and the Premier League, to have such a powerful platform and be able to unite people in such a powerful way, do it with the right things.

"Change may be the sponsorships that can around the pitches, change it to messages that people can see all the time.

"Keep reminding people of things, keep trying to educate them.

"I'm sure, hopefully, in time we will see change. It's down to the people like us as footballers who have massive platforms.

"People who want to be us, the children, who look up to us, we have a responsibility to teach them to be better people and understand what is right and wrong."
