Trent Alexander-Arnold books Liverpool's place in FIFA 20 Stay and Play Cup quarter-finals as Chelsea bow out

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold dominated Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior to reach the quarter-finals on an enthralling second day of the virtual Stay and Play Cup.

With real-life football across Europe currently postponed due to the coronavirus crisis, EA Sports set up the five-day tournament in which 20 high-profile players go head-to-head in an epic FIFA 20 battle on behalf of their respective clubs.

EA will donate $1million (£800,000) to Global Giving, a non-profit fund tackling the Covid-19 pandemic.

Alexander-Arnold - who has emerged as an early tournament favourite - made light work of his Madrid opponent on Thursday, securing an emphatic 4-1 victory despite falling behind early on.

Elsewhere, Jesper Lindstrom of Brondby sent Cesar Azpilicueta and Chelsea packing with a 2-0 victory.

Tottenham's Serge Aurier was then defeated by Porto's 17-year-old forward Fabio Silva, who scored the crucial golden goal after the scores were level at 2-2 at the end of normal time.

Alongside Alexander-Arnold, Phil Foden of Manchester City is the last representative of an English club taking part and will face AIK's Nabil Bahoui on Friday.
