'Tremendous potential' - Nottingham Forest fans buoyed by late transfer deal

Nottingham Forest fans have been cheered by the arrival of right-back Djed Spence from Middlesbrough.

The 21-year-old has joined the Reds on a season-long after the move was given the green light by the EFL this afternoon.

There had been uncertainty over whether the deal had been completed ahead of Tuesday’s 11pm deadline while Leicester City and Southampton reportedly enquired about the player on deadline.

Spence has become Forest’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window with four players leaving the City Ground.

Here’s a taste of what Reds fans have been saying about the move on social media…

Gareth Owen William Pickford: The lad sure can run at players and cause havoc. We need a player like this who isn’t afraid to go for it! Reminds me a little of Lolly’s style.

David Coleman: This lad has tremendous potential. Southampton tried to gatecrash Forest to his signature.

Cesari: Great signing, a coup even. Best of the known bunch.

Richard Dyson: Decent youth he is.

Aaron K Dallison: This is a better signing!! ch will have chose this one.

Shaun Wheatcroft: Great signing!!

Andy McIntyre: Happy with that signing to be fair.

Jack Roberts: Am hoping he’s a good loan but if Middlesbrough thinks if he’s any good why won’t they play him and send him on loan.

Michael Odwyer: Great signing, things are looking up, reds to the core, COYR.
