Tree on the railway line at Giffnock as trains to Glasgow Central station are suspended

Trains running between Glasgow Central station and the south side of the city have been disrupted after a tree fell on the line at Giffnock.

ScotRail confirmed the incident shortly before 7pm this evening.

As a result, services running between Central and East Kilbride have been affected.

The disruption comes as Scotland and the whole of the UK continues to feel the effects of Storm Dennis.

A yellow Met Office weather warning for wind is in place and will remain so until 11am tomorrow morning, with wind speeds set to pick up again tonight.

ScotRail Tweeted at 6.57pm: "There's a tree on the line at Giffnock, we've suspended our Glasgow Central - East Kilbride services until it can be safely cleared."

Those travelling on trains to and from Glasgow have been subjected to delays and cancellations as a result of the weather throughout the weekend.
