Back in his hometown near San Antonio, Texas, waiting for training camp to begin, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tre Flowers decided to ask some local talent to help him hone his game.
He was very surprised by the response.
“I wasn’t expecting this many people, so next time we’re going to have a little organization,” Flowers told Evan Closky of KENS5 News. “Any nuggets I can give them I will give them. I’m not going to hold anything back. The Seahawks taught me ‘each one, teach one.’ So I’m going to bring it back to everybody I can.”
Flowers was joined by a handful of athletes, including a few from nearby UTSA, as well as a few high school football players in the area.
“You start off playing football saying you want to go pro, so when you have the opportunity to go against (professionals) before you get to that level, it’s great to see where you’re at,” UTSA wide receiver Sheldon Jones said.
“You always want to go compete against a man ranked better than you, compete against a man that’s already been at the college level,” Cornerstone Christian quarterback Lucas Coley added. “Just seeing how (professionals) work, you always want to outwork them.”
Flowers thanked everyone for coming out, saying he hoped he was able to help them improve – while also making sure they understood they couldn’t get anything by him.
Flowers is staying prepared for the 2020 season, where he will have to fight against Quinton Dunbar for his old job at right cornerback – unless Dunbar’s current legal issues prevent him from playing next year.
Either way, Flowers will be ready.
