Travis star Fran Healy missing Glasgow patter and potato scones

Travis star Fran Healy has revealed he is missing his hometown of Glasgow after moving to Los Angeles four years ago.

The singer behind pop hits Why Does It Always Rain On Me? and Sing wants to see his mum, who he hasn’t been able to visit in months.

The rocker, who has also lived in Berlin, said: “I left Glasgow in 1996. I miss the humour, chit-chat and potato scones. Our ability to laugh at ourselves hasn’t yet reached America. I last saw my 73-year-old mum in October. She’s been a bit bored in lockdown.”

He now lives near Laurel Canyon with his German photographer wife Nora Kryst and their 15-year-old son Clay. Describing his lifestyle in LA, Fran said: “My life is 50 per cent songwriting and 50 per cent procrastinating.

“I try to write songs built to move you. I’m dyslexic but I’ll lie on the sofa reading The New York Times online.

“The rest of the band are in the UK, so we have a weekly Zoom catch-up. I’m a night owl, so I write when everyone is asleep – sometimes until 4am.”
