Travis Kelce confident old teammate Kareem Hunt will thrive with the Browns

Travis Kelce and Kareem Hunt shared a bond as Northeast Ohio natives playing for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017-18. Now that Hunt is playing for their hometown Browns, Kelce still holds tight to the bonds they developed as teammates on the explosive Chiefs offense.

The All-Pro tight end spoke about their relationship and why he believes Hunt will make the most of his newfound lease on football life in Cleveland. Kelce was in town as a participant in Jarvis Landry’s charity softball game over the weekend.

“We’re Cleveland kids and as Clevelanders we gotta stick together,” Kelce said via 92.3 The Fan. “We stay in contact and sure enough whenever we’re in the same city, it’s always love. It’s a brotherhood once you go through the ranks and make it to the league, and of course you’re from the same area, you automatically have a binding force that can’t be broken.”

Kelce doesn’t think there will be any future problems for Hunt, who was dumped by the Chiefs after video of an altercation in a Cleveland hotel and allegations of other miscreant behavior leaked out.

“As much as you try and stay away from the actual situation that happened, Kareem has been nothing but a great friend, a great teammate,” Kelce said, via 92.3 The Fan. “(he’s) been in the community, trying to help out and make a difference in other people’s lives and that’s what’s real.”

Hunt led the NFL in rushing as a rookie in 2017, a year where Kelce caught 83 passes for over 1,000 yards and scored 8 TDs. The running back is in a good spot to have success while sharing the Browns backfield with Nick Chubb.
