Travin Howard has knee injury, severity not yet known

Inside linebacker is certainly the Rams’ weakest position group on the roster, and unfortunately, the unproven unit took a significant hit this week in practice. Travin Howard did not suit up for the Rams’ scrimmage on Saturday afternoon after he suffered a knee injury in practice.

The severity is unknown and Sean McVay didn’t share any additional details on Howard’s injury after Saturday’s scrimmage, leaving his status up in the air. In his place, Kenny Young got the start next to Micah Kiser and McVay liked the athleticism he shows at the inside linebacker spot.

Howard’s situation is something to monitor with the regular season just two weeks away.

Howard played sparingly last year, really only getting time in the last few games of the season. He’s been projected to start next to Kiser throughout camp, but that’s now dependent on his availability moving forward.

Howard was selected by the Rams in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft and spent his rookie year on the practice squad before being promoted last year. In 2019, Howard made 22 tackles and broke up three passes.
