Travelodge to target unemployed parents with 'flexible hours' housekeeping jobs

Travelodge aims to hire 4,000 housekeeping staff by targeting parents who are out of work but need a job with flexible hours.

The hotel chain said it is hoping to attract parents who want to return to work by offering them roles with hours that fit around the school run.

The jobs will be for housekeeping roles at new Travelodge hotels, summer cover and to fill vacancies which become available at 573 Travelodge's around the country.

Many of the roles are available now, including positions at Newcastle's Quayside , Gosforth and Central Travelodge hotels, and at Gateshead's Whitemare Pool Travelodge.

Rebecca Baker of Travelodge said: "We have made it our mission to help unemployed parents return to work in the hospitality sector and working in housekeeping is a great route in.

"We have a strong established workforce of working parents, offering jobs close to home, flexible hours that can work around the school run, benefits that suit families and a career path into management specifically for mums and dads."

Travelodge said its housekeeping teams are regarded as the company's "heroes", collectively spending over one million hours a year making-up beds, while many hotel managers started their careers with a housekeeping job.
