Travelodge looks to unemployed parents to help fill post-Brexit jobs

Budget hotel chain Travelodge on Monday launched a major recruitment drive to get parents back into work, who can help fill thousands of jobs once Britain leaves the EU.

The accommodation giant said it will offer roles which have hours that fit around the school run, careers advice, and access to management training.

Travelodge, which currently has 558 hotels, said it hopes the move will attract some of the UK’s 2 million plus unemployed parents into hospitality.

The firm plans to open 100 hotels over the next five years which will create 3000 new jobs. A number of the new sites are planned in London, including in Manor House, Peckham and Beckton. Receptionists, managers, and housekeepers will all be sought.

Peter Gowers, chief executive of Travelodge said: “We are preparing in earnest for post-Brexit Britain. With thousands of new jobs to fill, we need more new colleagues than ever. We see vast untapped potential in parents who want to return to work.”

Alok Sharma, employment minister, said: “These are the type of flexible work opportunities parents up and down the country will welcome, which fit around their family responsibilities.”
