Travelodge launches new student recruitment programme with 3,000 vacancies - including in Greater Manchester

Travelodge is set to launch a new recruitment programme which will offer thousands of jobs to students.

There are 3,000 jobs up for grabs with the dual workplace student recruitment programme across the country which is designed to help students make a living around their studies .

The budget hotel chain has 2,200 permanent positions and 800 summer season jobs on offer - 50 of those in Greater Manchester.

Travelodge's bespoke programme is the first of its kind for students and will include flexible, but guaranteed, hours, access to management training and having a "work buddy".

Discount hotel stays are also among the employment benefits.

Positions for students looking for a job this summer includes roles in reception, restaurants and housekeeping.

Peter Gowers, chief executive of Travelodge, said: "Today's students have to study harder than ever and meet the rising costs of education.  With more than 560 hotels across the UK, Travelodge is uniquely placed to offer you a role in your university location during term-time and in your home town during the vacation. 

"Our new student programme gives you flexibility during your studies and the potential to build a longer-term career after graduation - a better way to earn while you learn."

The chain also added if a student worked 24 hours a week, they could earn "£10,000 per annum" - enough to meet the average living costs.

According to figures from the NUS, the average student will fork out £20,000 annually whilst continuing with higher education.

In Greater Manchester, there are 99,000 attending one of four universities, not including the further 22 universities and higher education institutes in the North West which adds another 400,000 to the student population.
