The report also reveals that couples will spend an average of £298 on a picture perfect trip, with cultural city breaks topping the list among hopeless romantics, followed by coastal breaks and countryside trips.

If you are looking for some travel inspiration, Travelodge has revealed the top 10 most romantic destinations worth visiting across the UK, where many of the chain's hotels are located.

Or couples can opt to stay in one of the many unusual Travelodge hotel buildings like the Grade ll-Listed Leamington Spa Travelodge where Queen Victoria once stayed or the Halifax Travelodge which was a former water mill.
