Travelling community parked at Dublin Pfizer plant astounded by vaccine rumours as videos emerge

Members of the Travelling community have expressed their shock at false allegations that they are setting up camp outside the west Dublin Pfizer plant and refusing to move until they are all vaccinated.

The claims flying around on social media have been blasted as "ridiculous" with many of the travellers parked up near the Grange Castle plant saying they are "already vaccinated" and that they are "just staying for a few days".

The speculation began when videos, showing dozens of caravans, cars, vans and trailers heading toward the plant, were spread rapidly around Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter.

The viral video footage of the traveller convoy showed the vehicles heading for the plant before being positioned on a raised grass verge just yards away accompanied with text of the allegations.

One member of the community who had set up camp there and was aware of the rumours told Dublin Live that they were "only here for a couple of days and would be moving on again".

They said: "It's not true. We are not here because of the vaccines and if we want one we will go to the doctor for it. We weren't aware of the significance of where we parked at the time."

Another person travelling with the group, who had previously been staying in Tallaght before this, described the rumours as "ridiculous".

They said: "None of us are getting vaccines. They are our homes, we are just parked here for a few days with the kids to feed them."

Dublin Live contacted Pfizer Grange Castle for comment.
