A group of travellers pitched up on a football field have been served with a notice requiring them to leave.
Officers have served a Section 61 notice which requires all vehicles unlawfully occupying land at Brimsham Green School in Yate to leave. Earlier this week, a sports day at the school was disrupted because of the travellers having pitched up.
At the time, around 17 caravans and other vehicles had set up on the school's grounds and police ended up being called to the school. The school's sports day was only able to go ahead partially, with several events postponed because of the encampment, which was cordoned off.

Avon and Somerset Police has now confirmed proceedings have started to get them to leave the site. South Gloucestershire Neighbourhood Policing wrote on its Facebook page: "Officers have served a Section 61 notice under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act requiring all vehicles unlawfully occupying land at Brimsham Green School in Yate to leave.
"This notice gives us the power to order the encampment to leave if certain criteria is met, which it has been, and officers served the notice on Saturday. We’re aware of the ongoing concerns in the local community and want to reassure people we are working with South Gloucestershire Council and the school to resolve this as soon as possible.
"Officers will attend the location again today to continue liaising with the occupants of the vehicles and reiterating the need for them to leave the site by the time specified in the notice."
