Travellers to face legal steps after setting up on former school field

Sefton Council say they are looking at taking legal steps after travellers arrived in a former school field.

The camp has been set up on the fields of the now closed-down St Ambrose Barlow College on Copy Lane, Netherton.

Sefton Council are now threatening to take legal action as they look to get rid of the camp.

This is the second time in the last week that travellers have set up in the area, with a group arriving on the Thornton Bypass last Friday, with the council also saying they would take steps to ensure they would be moved on.

A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “We are aware of travellers on land near Copy Lane, Netherton, and will be following the legal process to ensure they are moved on.”
