Travellers set up camp on Clifton Down

A group of travellers have set up camp on a popular Bristol beauty spot.

Around six caravans and several vans were spotted on Clifton Down on Monday, April 29.

The vehicles are stationed near Ladies Mile - land which belongs to Bristol City Council .

Earlier this month, a group of caravans were parked on the grassy area near the White Tree roundabout on Durdham Down.

One member of the camp told Bristol Live they were there to enjoy the Funderworld amusement park.

It is not known whether they have moved to this new site or whether another group have parked up.

Bristol has two designated travellers sites - one in Ashton Vale which has 12 pitches and another in Lawrence Weston  which has 20 pitches.

Bristol City Council has been contacted for comment.
