Travellers refuse to move from Eastville Park site

Bristol City Council have confirmed a set of travellers currently living at Eastville Park are refusing to move.

There have been reports of 10 caravans as well as horse boxes, SUVs and vans parked around the east Bristol park.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed they are also aware of the travellers on site but that no criminal activity has occurred on site and the response is currently being led by the council.

Tom Reddick passed by the site on Thursday evening (July 9) and said: "There are currently about 10 caravans, two horse boxes, 3 suvs and two vans parked in a circle at the top end of Eastville Park near the tennis courts.

"They seem to be settling in. I saw a couple of kids riding around the area on a mini quad bike. It's worrying how much damage may be done considering the park is only maintained with volunteer help."
