Travellers who pitched up on The Meadows Recreation Ground next to Victoria Embankment have been told to leave.
Councillor Michael Edwards, who represents The Meadows for Labour on Nottingham City Council, said four caravans had arrived.
"Notice was served on them after 11pm last nght. They have until 8am on Monday to leave," he said.
"If they remain the city council will send baliffs."
He described the location as "on the field on the western side of Wilford Grove".
A resident reported the issue and Councillor Edwards added: "Within half and hour we arranged for someone to go down and find the travellers."
