Travellers pitch up at car park of Swansea beauty spot

Travellers have pitched up caravans at the car park of a Swansea beauty spot.

A large number of caravans and transit vans were spotted moving onto Clyne Valley Country Park car park near Blackpill in Swansea on Thursday, May 13.

One woman, who asked not to be named, said she went to the car park with her husband earlier today when she witnessed vans pulling caravans moving into the car park, and "a lot of manoeuvring" going on. They went for a coffee as normal, then when they returned saw a set up of a significant number of vans and caravans.

"We didn't want to get out car stuck in the car park," she said.

"If it's a nice day tomorrow people won't be able to go down there, which is a shame."

Swansea has two recognised sites for use by travellers: an official site in Pant Y Blawd in Llansamlet, and a "tolerated" site in Swansea Vale.

In June last year, we reported how travellers had moved onto another car park in Swansea, also situated close to Blackpill Lido.

And in August 2019, a group of travellers parked their caravans at one of the most beautiful properties in Mumbles, overlooking Swansea Bay.
