Travellers leave Beeston park after legal action from council

A group of travellers have left a park after legal action was taken by the local council. The travellers were spotted leaving Dovecote Lane Recreation Ground in Beeston on Sunday evening, July 24.

The caravans were first spotted there around ten days ago on July 15, with around 16 caravans and other vehicles seen on the site. Broxtowe Borough Council has confirmed the whole group had left as of Monday morning, July 25 after the legal action was taken by the authority. A spokesperson said: "The travellers have left Dovecote Park this morning as a result of legal action taken by Broxtowe Borough Council.”

Dovecote Lane Recreation Ground is run by the council, boasting a play area, two football pitches, a bowling green and a small skate park. It is described as "a popular site with a full range of outdoor sporting facilities" with a "popular children's play area [which] provides a range of equipment for mixed ages".
