Traveller camp pitches up on land off Aztec West roundabout

Travellers have set up camp near the Aztec West roundabout in Almondsbury.

Three caravans and a van were on a path off Oaktree Crescent, near the A38, at 12.30pm today (December 2).

A South Gloucestershire Council spokesman confirmed officers were due to visit the site today. The council is trying to establish who owns the land.

One local claimed in the Bradley Stoke Families Facebook group that a padlock had been cut to open the gate to the land.

What are the rights of travellers?

Another resident said the encampment had been there since the early hours of November 30.

The council spokesman said a further statement would be released soon.
