Travel lockdown Ireland: Clampers' paradise as lines of drivers stung on road just seconds from Dublin car park

Clampers in Dublin had a field day on Thursday morning as several drivers were stung on the side of a busy road.

The steel of the yellow triangle was constantly going jingle-jangle from 10am onwards as numerous cars were clamped for illegally parking on a footpath in the Rialto area.

It was paradise for the parking police who caught the vehicles within a stone's throw of a nearby car park.

As well as this, all cars were parked touch-tight to the wall meaning there was no room for pedestrians, people using wheelchairs or parents pushing buggies to pass.

That left many locals with no option but to divert around and walk along the busy south Dublin road, putting themselves in danger of being hit by oncoming traffic.

One angry local said: "This photo looks like Herberton road, five minutes walk and you're in Crumlin shopping Centre with free parking for 100 cars or more."

Another added: "Wheelchairs and buggies can't get by. And they actually do it regularly and even block people in their houses."
