Travel list update in full as red green and amber lists change

The update to the traffic light travel system has been announced by Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.

The Transport Secretary revealed the changes on social media today.

He said: "We've updated our travel lists further cautiously easing international travel.

"You can view the full list on GOV.UK, with changes coming into force from Monday 30 August at 4am."

The government says Thailand and Montenegro are to be added to the red list to protect public health.

Canada, Denmark, Finland, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Switzerland, and the Azores will be added to the green list.

The changes will come into force from 4am on 30 August.

Destinations such as Spain, France and Greece all stay on the amber list.

Arrivals from green list locations need only to take a pre-departure Covid test, and a second on ‘day 2’ after they land.

Those travelling from an amber country face the same rules as green list travellers if they’ve had both doses of the vaccine.

Red list travellers are only allowed to enter the UK if they are a British or Irish National, or have residence rights in the UK.

Those red list travellers who do return to the UK must quarantine in a “managed” hotel, with no exemptions.
