Travel disruption across Renfrewshire as widespread flooding continues to wreak havoc

Motorists in Renfrewshire have faced a second day of travel disruption as flood waters and high winds continue to cause havoc across the region.

Torrential rain has rendered many rural routes impassable to cars, with some vehicles becoming stranded in the rising waters.

The Erskine Bridge remains closed to high sided vehicles while the A8 at Langbank was shut for several hours but has since reopened in both directions.

The A737 between Lochwinnoch and Kilbarchan is badly flooded, with many drivers forced to turn back.

The weather is also affecteing routes to and from Greenock and care is advised when travelling on the M8.

The Met office has a yellow warning for high winds in place for much of Scotland and difficult driving conditions are expected to persist into Monday.
