
Locations that are usually crowded during the Golden Week holiday period were empty on Sunday, amid nationwide efforts to prevent the spread of infections of the novel coronavirus.
A sign warning visitors that clamming is not allowed at the popular clamming site Umino Koen in Yokohama seemed to have worked. The park is usually teeming with families during Golden Week but on Sunday the clams had the beach to themselves.
Meanwhile, Ibaraki Airport in Omitama, Ibaraki Prefecture, has been closed since Saturday due to the suspension of all domestic and international flights to and from the airport.
