Travel blogger proposes to girlfriend at top of 7,600ft active volcano

A travel blogger has reached dizzy new heights in the romance stakes, proposing to his partner at the top of a 7,600ft active volcano

Canadian couple, Alison and Jarod, were climbing their first volcano – Mount Bromo in Indonesia – when Jarod decided to pop the question.

After trekking up the side of the volcano, the pair finally reached the peak and began walking along its narrow ridge.

Footage taken by a drone owned by the romantic explorer and operated by their friend, then reveals the moment Jarod springs the surprise proposal on Alison.

Jarod can be seen dropping to one knee and presenting Alison with the engagement ring, before she covers her mouth in shock and the pair embrace.

Footage shows a stunned Alison covering her mouth in shock, before flinging her arms around her new fiancée.

In an online statement accompanying the footage, Jarod wrote: “While walking atop the crater rim, hearing the deep rumble down below and stunning 360 landscape views, I got down on one knee and asked the love of my life to marry me.

“She was so shocked and couldn't believe it was really happening. After some tears of joy, a big “YES”, and some kisses, Alison quickly said she needed to get off the volcano as she couldn't process both of these things happening at the same time.

“We feel so lucky to have found each other in this adventure called life and there is no one else we'd rather be beside. Thanks to our friends Jenny and Stu for capturing the moment and helping make this all happen!

The couple met on a teacher education programme in Ottawa and have reportedly been inseparable since.

The pair now run a travel blog together called Our Moving Roots, which is inspired by the concepts of dynamism and positivity: “Our Moving Roots is the idea that in life we are not meant to be stagnant, but rather be in constant motion; planting new roots in the places we go, the people we meet, the experiences we have, while infusing love in all of the above,” it reads.
