Traumatised teen left with staples in her head after horror hit and run in Edinburgh

A teenager has been left with six staples in her head after being mowed down by a motorcycle in Edinburgh.

Megan Morris was shopping for a Mother's Day present on Sunday, March 22 when a red and white Honda 250 bike mounted a pavement on Hay Avenue ploughing into her and another woman.

The driver then ran off leaving his bike and two victims drenched in blood with ‘serious’ injuries.

Now the traumatised 18-year-old is desperate for the "animal" who knocked her down to be pulled put behind bars.

Megan said: "I am mentally struggling, I am very overwhelmed and I am badly triggered when I drove past where the accident happened.

"I was walking to the shops, feeling excited about buying cakes and sandwiches for my mum and next thing I know I was running home in so much pain and blood pouring from my head.

"My injures involve a split open head which I had to have six staples to shut, light bruising that’s to get worse over the coming days, staved fingers, and swollen insides with my spleen in questionable condition.

"I want the vile person who done this to me and this other person caught and placed behind bars.

"There are lives at risk and it cannot be pushed aside until something like my accident occurs."

The horror ordeal happened at around 2.45pm in the Niddrie area of the capital before Megan and another 26-year-old woman were rushed to hospital.

Police Scotland has now launched a frantic search to find the driver of the motorcycle.

Megan added: “I am totally disgusted that he would leave two women badly injured on the street.

“When I was put into my neighbors car for my trip to A&E, the same person who hit me, walked straight past me and smirked and laughed as he saw me heavily bleeding and hysterical.

“Totally disheartened that someone like that is still roaming freely within my community.”

“Let’s get this animal behind bars where he belongs.”

Police chiefs are now urging anyone with information on the incident to come forward to help them with their enquiries.

Sergeant Jennifer Forbes, of the Road Policing Unit in Edinburgh, said: "These women suffered serious injuries and are receiving treatment in hospital.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may be able to help to come forward.

"You can pass on information by calling 101, quoting incident 1724 of 22 March."
