Trapped sheep saved from cliff edge after becoming stuck near Scots beach

A sheep was dramatically rescued from the edge of a cliff at a Scottish beach.

The animal began to struggle after encountering difficulty at Garry Beach, North Tolsta, Isle of Lewis on Saturday.

Hebrides Mountain Rescue Team then sprang to action using harnesses and ropes to pull her to safety.

After multiple crew members got involved the sheep was finally saved and reunited with her owner.

Hebrides Mountain Rescue Team said: "SSPCA call out for sheep trapped on the cliffs of Garry Beach in Tolsta.

"The team responded and swiftly rescued her and managed to reunite with her owner.

"These rescues may not seem much to some but to the team it’s an opportunity for training with the equipment and a chance for new team members to get involved.

"This is obviously a valuable service for the crofter too."
