Transport officers helping 'person in a precarious position' at locked down Leeds train station

All train services in and out of Leeds Station were cancelled or delayed while " on Thursday morning.

British Transport Police were called to the station at around 7am and have been working to bring the incident to a safe conclusion ever since.

Train commuters on the concourse at Leeds Station were told by a train guard that trains would be delayed for some time due to "concerns about someone on a bridge".

A spokesperson for the police said: “At 7.03am today (30/05) officers were called to Leeds station following the concern for the welfare of a person in a precarious position.

“Officers are on scene and are working to bring this incident to a safe resolution as soon as possible. Rail services are disrupted and passengers are advised to check with National Rail Enquiries before travelling.”

All services are currently suspended, causing chaos for commuters.

Trains just outside Leeds have been halted and some passengers have been waiting for over an hour.

Rail replacement buses have been arranged for passengers stuck inside Leeds Station.

The train company Northern said services could start running again at 12pm.
