More private sector entities will utilise their resources to pay their respects to late King Bhumibol.
Transport and telecom companies will provide free services to mourners attending the royal cremation ceremony, and support back office operations for the event.
On Oct 26, Uber in Thailand will offer free rides (up to 500 baht) from all serviced areas in the capital to the royal cremation ceremony in Sanam Luang. People can take advantage of the promotion by entering the code THAI2017 into their Uber application. The code can only be used once per customer.
Representatives from Grab driver-partners (GrabTaxi and GrabBike) announced they will also provide free ride services to the Sanam Luang ceremonial ground for people wishing to pay their last respects during the royal cremation period, from Oct 25-29.
People wishing to make use of the Grab driver-partner's voluntary service should hail Grab taxis with sunshade stickers on their side windows or Grab bikes with riders wearing T-shirts with the phrase: "Grab Partners Voluntarily Offer Free Rides".
Grab driver-partners in other provinces will also offer free ride services to other areas designated for mourners to pay their respects.
Currently, more 1,000 Grab driver-partners have volunteered for the service.
