As the festive season fast approaches, Translink has launched a public awareness campaign as part of its latest efforts to remind everyone about the importance of wearing a face-covering.
The face-covering regulations, which were introduced last year to help reduce the spread of Covid-19, apply to passengers on all forms of passenger transport and in stations, although there are exemptions for those who are not able to wear a face covering.
The multi-media campaign will include radio ads, posters and announcements in stations and onboard public transport, as well as engaging social media content using much-loved Granny and Grandson Tik Tok duo, Conor and Joanie to help share the important message to stay safe.
Translink Group chief executive Chris Conway said, “It’s still as important as ever that everyone who can wear a face covering, does so, in order to keep staff and passengers safe - particularly at this time of year when more people are out and about shopping, eating out and socialising.
“Now is not a time to be complacent, which is why our campaign aims to remind people of the importance of wearing a face-covering, with updated ads, content and information on our website and social media channels to help inform and reassure passengers, so they have the confidence to use our services.”
As part of the initiative which runs throughout December, Translink is reminding everyone to follow some simple but important steps when using public transport: wear a face-covering, wash/sanitise your hands frequently and use touch-free ticket options if possible.
In addition to the wearing of face-coverings to help reduce the spread of infection, regular deep cleaning of Translink vehicles and facilities with mobile cleaning teams will continue.
