Transit van hanging over edge of lorry catches police attention

Nottinghamshire Police pulled over a lorry for carrying a transit van as its load - with it hanging over the edge.

The stop was made by Nottinghamshire Road Policing Unit on Saturday, January 15.

Nottinghamshire Roads Policing Unit [RPU] said in a statement: "Whilst the other half of the RPU help with an abnormal load I have been to assist the ARV with a good spot!

"Driver dealt with for this insecure load!"

It added the hashtag #dangerousload along with a picture of the vehicle which had been stopped.

The discovery provoked a lot of response from people on Twitter, who couldn't believe what police had found.

"What makes a driver think this is safe to travel with?" one person asked.

Another said: "I certainly would have parked my car that close behind it either."

One tweet simply said: "Seriously... you couldn't make it up."
