The fire spread to a number of fence panels and crews used hose reel jets to put out the blaze.

The driver's cab of the transit van was completely gutted by the fire. Pictures taken by an ECHO photographer show all the windows smashed and the interior of the van blackened and destroyed by the blaze.

Nobody is believed to have been injured in the fire.

Merseyside Police officers were called to the scene by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and the force is investigating the incident.
