Transgender prisoner 'sent back to men's jail after romping with fellow inmate'

A transgender prisoner has been sent back to a men's jail after being caught 'romping' with a female inmate in her cell, according to reports.

Kayleigh Woods, 23, was reportedly transferred to HMP Eastwood Park, a women's prison in Gloucestershire, despite not being legally considered a female, reports The Sun.

Prison officers reportedly caught her having sex with a woman in her cell after starting a secret relationship on the inside.

Woods was originally sent to HMP Hewell, in Redditch, Worcestershire, however she successfully asked to move to a female prison, despite not having a gender recognition certificate, it has been reported.

A source told The Sun: "Prison officers found one of the pair in a state of undress. A toilet seat had also been broken. It was pretty clear what they’d been up to.”

Woods, formerly Kyle Lockwood, was locked up along with her then-boyfriend Jack Williams for brutally murdering their flatmate Bethany Hill in 2016.

The Transgender Case Board (TCB) approved her transfer to Eastwood Park in December 2017, deeming she posed little risk to female inmates due to the lack of sexual offences on her record.

Staff at the Gloucestershire prison reportedly said they discovered Woods 'in flagrante' and reported her to the TCB, resulting in her transfer to men's prison HMP Gartree, in Leicestershire.

One source told The Sun that Woods has identified as a woman for several years, although she had not undergone surgery.

They added that she moved to Eastwood Park after appealing over being held in a men's jail.

Woods and Williams bound Bethany Hill's hands with tape and then sliced her neck several times at the flat they all shared in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The couple prepared for the murder by practising on a 'fetish' doll.

A Prison Service spokesman told The Sun: “The safety of all our prisoners is an absolute priority.

"While we work to manage all prisoners, including those who are transgender, sensitively and in line with the law, we can and will take action where their behaviour provides cause for concern.”
