Transformers, Batmobiles, Ghostbusters Ecto-1 and more are coming to Bolton Arena

Vehicles made famous on the big screen are driving into town this spring.

From Fred Flintstone's car and Magnum P.I.'s red Ferrari, to Transformers Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, dozens of cars and vans will feature in the event at Bolton Arena.

Stars and Cars is here for one day only, on Sunday, April 5, giving visitors the chance to sit in and have their photos taken with some of their favourite vehicles.

Multiple Piston Cup winner Lightning McQueen is among the line-up, as is the Ghostbusters Ecto-1, James Bond cars and the much-loved A-Team van.

Most of the vehicles are replicas, but there'll be two that were actually used on screen, including Mr Bean's car and the unmistakable Fiat Cinquecento featured in the popular TV series The Inbetweeners.

Bumblebee will be there in his classic Camaro disguise, but will also be there in his 7ft+ robot form to have photos taken with his fans.

Every penny from the event goes to Derian House Children's Hospice in Chorley and it will also feature stars of the screen who are there to support the cause.

The line-up includes Shameless actress Rebecca Atkinson, Sheila Reid who plays Madge in Benidorm, actress Jill Halfpenny and Gladiators Jet and Saracen.

The event, which runs from 11am to 4pm, is organised by Derian House community fundraiser Mick Croskery and hospice ambassador Colin Wilby.

"Our event started off as a small affair raising funds for local charities, but has gradually grown into the largest event of its type in the country," said Mick.

"It now attracts thousands of movie and TV fans and raises thousands of pounds for Derian House Children's Hospice.

"Every penny of our profit goes to helping children in our area with life-limiting or life-shortening conditions.

"We put our success down to the fact that families can come and enjoy a day out and also give something back to our community in Derian House."

Mick says it's down to the individual car owners as to whether they let people sit inside, but many of them do and people can still have photos taken standing near the ones that don't.

Tickets can be booked online and cost £10 for children 11 plus and adults, £6 for children aged four to 10, or £25 for a family, plus booking fees of 45p per ticket.

Children three and under free but require a 'tiny tot' ticket.

You can pay extra for 'Back In Time' tickets, giving you access to the arena from 10am, an hour before the official opening time.

These cost £16 for 11s and over, £8 for children or £41 for a family.
