'Alex Scott could be replacing Moises Caicedo at Chelsea'
Saturday 25 July 2026 20:00 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Pat Nevin has offered an unique view on Chelsea's interest in Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott.
He said: "Looking at the Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernández situation, that midfield was supposed to be sorted, but it didn't work to that level last season. Alex Scott has walked straight into a 'must-have' position, and suddenly everybody needs someone like him.
"I'm not sure he's the very best in England in that position, but he's very good. Because he's done it in the Premier League, he's the right age. You're not going to buy him and have him flop. If you're capable of doing it at Bournemouth, you'll generally be fine at a bigger club.
"Chelsea are a club that does trading. For that sort of money, they might be covering for moving on Fernandez or Caicedo. I feel sorry for Bournemouth because they keep developing great players only to see them leave, but that's the model."
Pat Nevin was speaking to Betano Online Casino.

'Antonio Nusa to Arsenal shouldn’t be a priority'
Saturday 25 July 2026 19:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
"I’m not sure about Antonio Nusa to Arsenal, they already have young players," former Gunners midfielder Emmanuel Petit has said. "That's been the policy and vision at Arsenal for years. But I think they understood that to reach the next level, they have to spend money on big players who can add to the squad.
"You started with Declan Rice, and then you see players like Martin Odegaard. Many players have come to Arsenal recently and made a difference. So if they want to continue this way and be there every single season among the favorites in the Premier League and on the European stage, they need to get really good players.
"I like young players, it's a bet on the future, but I think Arsenal need more experienced and gifted players. I mean players who know how to win trophies. That's important to me.
"Arsenal won a trophy after such a long time, so they have to keep this mentality. Talent is one thing, experience is something else. You need experienced players as well.
"We talk about Nusa for Norway. I mean, come on. He's a good player, but he's not the priority. We need something strong that we know is already proven on the big stage, who has won many trophies.
"We know his quality would be huge for Arsenal. We talk about a left winger, I like Christos Tzolis, but in the meantime, I'm expecting a big signing to send a message to the dressing room.
“To keep this ambition and send a message to the opponents. I want proper footballers. I want quality in the feet, but quality in the brain as well.”
Emmanuel Petit was speaking to speaking to Mr Gamble.
Why Chelsea signings have been left out of tour squad
Saturday 25 July 2026 19:00 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

'Spurs would be great for Marcus Rashford'
Saturday 25 July 2026 18:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Tottenham are on the market for a new forward and Marcus Rashford's future at Manchester United is uncertain, leading Pat Nevin to think a deal would suit all parties.
He said: "What you want for Marcus Rashford is somewhere he's given space to be himself. There was a period when Barcelona were interested, but it's about the money. Marcus should sit down and realise it's not about the money anymore, his finances are fine.
"He should make the right decision for his career. If that's Chelsea or Arsenal, so be it. He's at an age where he should be playing for England. At his best, you can't leave him out, but he sometimes disappears because he's not playing every week.
"He has to go somewhere where he plays every single week. There are dangers with Chelsea if they change direction, but I actually think Tottenham would be great for him. He could be the main man there with creative players behind him. I think it could be right."
Pat Nevin was speaking to Betano Online Casino.
'Arsenal need a statement signing like Bradley Barcola or Nico Williams'
Saturday 25 July 2026 18:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Many Arsenal supporters will probably agree with former midfielder Emmanuel Petit on this one.
"Arsenal should make a statement signing with either Bradley Barcola or Nico Williams, who have won titles. They are among the best players in that position in the world," Petit said.
"So if Arsenal wants to keep their level and reach the next step they need to look at a team like PSG. The next level is there, and you need additions to your squad that can make a huge difference.
"I've been saying this for a long time, modern football is based on the collective, but you still need proper forwards. And currently, we don't have that at Arsenal. We have great players, but I think the balance of talent is not quite right."
Emmanuel Petit was speaking to speaking to Mr Gamble.
Chelsea face double transfer decision as Kerim Alajbegovic interest builds
Saturday 25 July 2026 18:00 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Morgan Rogers’ £117million club-record move to Chelsea has increased Alonso’s options on the wing, with Rogers expected to spend the majority of his time on the left of the Blues’ attack.
That has left Jamie Gittens and Pedro Neto in the dark about their respective futures, with their prospects at Chelsea confused further by the club’s interest in Bayer Leverkusen teenager Kerim Alajbegovic.
Standard Sport understands that Chelsea would have to consider selling Neto or Gittens, or letting the latter leave on loan, if they were to formalise their interest in Bosnia and Herzegovina international Alajbegovic.
Why Man Utd will NOT sign Romero
Saturday 25 July 2026 17:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
William Gallas is back with another comment about Cristian Romero's future, this time explaining why the Tottenham captain will not be joining Manchester United - if he leaves this summer.
Gallas said: "I don't know if Man United is going to be the best option, but he can have a good partnership with Lisandro Martinez like he did in the national team. But, Man United already have Harry Maguire. Michael Carrick gave him the opportunity to be back in the starting eleven, so I don't think they will take another defender and put Maguire in a bad situation.
"So that's why I think Maguire will be the number one choice. I don't think Romero will go to Man United, but he has to leave."

Jan Paul van Hecke shirt number confirmed
Saturday 25 July 2026 17:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Jan Paul van Hecke was signed for £52m from Brighton, and he will wear the No6 shirt for Tottenham.
The 26-year-old follows in the footsteps of loan star Joao Palhinha, who was the most recent recipient of the squad number.
The midfielder returned to parent club Bayern Munich after Spurs did not activate their option to purchase the former Fulham man, and as such, Van Hecke has been handed his shirt.
'Barcola is an outstanding talent'
Saturday 25 July 2026 17:00 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris has spoken in glowing terms of the Paris Saint-Germain forward amid links to Arsenal and Liverpool.
Speaking to BOYLE Sports, who offer the latest football odds, Morris said: "Bradley Barcola would be a statement signing. He is an outstanding talent. He was PSG's top goalscorer in the league last year even though he wasn't starting all the time. He is a goal threat with electrifying pace. Our current attack with Estevao, Rogers, and Cole Palmer has outstanding talent, but not that same electrifying pace.
"If Liverpool or Arsenal get Barcola, that would be an amazing signing. I imagine if he were available, Chelsea would be in the running, but I don't see someone who has just won two Champions Leagues wanting to go to a club that isn't even in Europe. That is the downside of how we performed last year.
"You miss out on top players like that. We were lucky to get Rogers, that's a huge credit to the owners and the manager. I don't see us getting two players of that caliber. Barcola has to move. He didn't play as much as he should have last year. If PSG sign another wide man, he definitely needs to leave.
"It won't just be Arsenal and Liverpool, the biggest clubs in Europe will be trying to sign him. I think he's brilliant."
Arsenal handed Vini Jr boost
Saturday 25 July 2026 16:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Real Madrid are pursuing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, which could be good news for Arsenal.
Standard Sport understands Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Vinicius Junior at Real Madrid as they are interested in signing the Brazil international if he does become available, with the conditions for a deal being explored.
Vinicius Jr is in to the final year of his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu and there has been a lack of progression regarding an extension.
Unless an agreement is struck and Vinicius Jr signs a new deal, Real Madrid run the risk of losing the Brazilian for free next summer - of for a cut-price fee in the January transfer window.
While Arsenal are in the market for a left winger and would be ready to swoop for the 26-year-old, no direct conversations have taken place with Real and a potential deal would rely on Vinicius Jr deciding he does not want to sign a new contract in Madrid.
That said, it would appear Los Blancos are bracing themselves for a potential exit by lining up a replacement.
Chelsea facing Fernandez loss
Saturday 25 July 2026 16:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Chelsea have been told to cash in on Enzo Fernandez this summer as the midfielder looks into a move away.
Fernandez caused a stir in March when he appeared to posture for a transfer to Real Madrid in a variety of media appearances, earning a club-imposed two-match suspension for his theatrics.
He has kept up the act this summer, though, with his agent telling reporters during the World Cup that he remained keen to leave the club.
As pre-season gets underway, it remains unclear whether he will get his wish. Chelsea will demand £120million for his sale, and Real Madrid have issued a public statement distancing themselves from a deal.
Chelsea issue Pedro Neto transfer stance
Saturday 25 July 2026 16:01 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Chelsea are not actively looking to sell Pedro Neto, writes Dom Smith.
Standard Sport understands there are no immediate plans to sell the Portuguese winger despite rumours of an exit.
Throughout this summer, no clubs have entered into anything close to serious talks with the Blues over signing Neto.
Bruno Guimaraes talks
Saturday 25 July 2026 15:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Eddie Howe said he has had ‘really good conversations’ with Bruno Guimaraes this summer as he looks to convince the player to snub transfer interest from Arsenal to stay in Newcastle this summer.
The Gunners are keen to add Guimaraes in a bid to bolster Mikel Arteta’s midfield options this summer, though Newcastle are desperate to keep the Brazilian on Tyneside after already losing key players in Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali earlier in the window.
Arsenal are said to be preparing a £70m bid for the player, though Newcastle are expected to reject the offer.
'Sandro Tonali’s fee might age badly for Spurs'
Saturday 25 July 2026 15:22 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
This take will not go down well with Tottenham fans...
"I trust Manchester United at the moment, they have been very sensible. They didn't panic last year, and now we're seeing the fruits of that. Take Sandro Tonali, for example. I see a lot of Newcastle, as it's the closest Premier League club to where I live," Pat Nevin said.
"I love Tonali, he's all action and gets stuck into tackles. But he has 10 goals in 110 appearances. For a player who's supposed to be attacking the box, that's not brilliant. Is that worth £100 million? I kind of balk at that.
"Newcastle might take the money and reinvest. It hurts because we love his effort, but you need to look at the numbers. I think Elliot Anderson was a better bet in many ways than Tonali, which may be proven now.
"At Spurs, he will do okay, but is he going to turn you into a top-tier team? I'm not sure. Newcastle had to look at a different model because the current one wasn't allowed to work due to financial regulations. You can't just spend, spend, spend anymore."
Pat Nevin was speaking to Betano Online Casino.
Crystal Palace target Bundesliga star amid Maxence Lacroix exit
Saturday 25 July 2026 15:00 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Crystal Palace have opened talks over a deal to sign Augsburg centre-back Chrislain Matsima.
Standard Sport reported last week that Matsima was one of a number of centre-back options being looked at by Palace, and the Eagles have now entered negotiations with Augsburg.
No agreement has been reached yet, and it is unclear whether Palace’s talks with Chelsea defender Axel Disasi would impact any deal for Matsima.
Arsenal have Vini Jr plan
Saturday 25 July 2026 14:43 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Arsenal are considering a move for Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, in what would be a major transfer statement from the Premier League champions.
Vinicius has 12 months remaining on his contract at Real and little progress has been made in talks over a new deal.
If an agreement is not reached, Real could decide to cash in this summer rather than losing him for free in a year’s time.
Standard Sport understands Arsenal are monitoring the situation and are interested in trying to sign the Brazilian if he does become available, with the conditions for a deal being explored.
Rodri swoop is good news for Manchester United
Saturday 25 July 2026 14:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Real Madrid’s move to sign Manchester City midfielder Rodri comes as good news for Manchester United.
Los Blancos were not thought to be keen on buying the Spaniard this summer but performed a surprise U-turn after he captained Spain to a second World Cup title and won the Golden Ball in doing so.
As of Friday evening, they were working to prepare a bid for the player and are said to be confident of reaching an agreement with City, comfortable in the knowledge that Rodri wants to move back home to Madrid.
Should the deal go through, it could trigger a domino effect allowing United to sign one of their dream summer targets - Aurelien Tchouameni.

Spurs' next two moves revealed
Saturday 25 July 2026 13:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Roberto De Zerbi has said Tottenham are not finished in the transfer window, despite an aggressive summer spending spree.
Spurs have been one of the more active Premier League clubs this summer, bringing in six new faces before the start of pre-season as the club aim to right the wrongs of the last two campaigns.
Martin Dubravka, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have arrived in north London on free transfers, while Jan Paul van Hecke has joined from Brighton in a £52million deal to bolster Tottenham’s defence.
The star signings, so far, have been in midfield with Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali costing £85m and £100m respectively, pushing Spurs’ spending over the £200m mark altogether.
However, amid links to the likes of Eli Junior Kroupi, Savinho and Pedro Neto and Rafael Leao, De Zerbi has confirmed Spurs will now turn attentions to bolstering their attack in the hope of at least two more additions.
'Arsenal should hijack Chelsea for Lacroix'
Saturday 25 July 2026 13:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Arsenal couldn't, could they? Well Emmanuel Petit is on board for the Gunners gaining revenge for losing out on Morgan Rogers.
Petit said: "Arsenal should definitely hijack Chelsea’s interest in Maxence Lacroix, because William Saliba and Gabriel have both had their injuries before being so important in winning the Premier League.
"Lacroix could be a good addition. He has the ambition to raise his level, to play among the best players, and to be with the national team. I think he wants to play in the biggest competitions, like the Champions League. If you want to compete and be among the best players, your ambition is to play in the best competitions.
"He's got the talent and the ambition. So this is, for me, something very important for the spirit of the team and the mentality."

'Romero must leave Spurs for bigger club'
Saturday 25 July 2026 12:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Former Tottenham defender William Gallas will not be a popular person in N17 with statements like this...
The Frenchman said: "I think it's time for Cristian Romero to leave. I think it's a good time for him to leave, after what he showed during the World Cup. He had a great performance. He had a great World Cup. I think he has to go to another club who are bigger than Tottenham.
"I can see him more in Spain, you know. I don't know if he's a big fan of Real Madrid or a big fan of Barcelona or Atletico Madrid. Atletico Madrid can be a good choice, playing under Diego Simeone. He would love one more Argentinian guy."
William Gallas was peaking to iPredicta.

Saturday 25 July 2026 11:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne
Roberto De Zerbi said he is prepared to let Lucas Bergvall leave Tottenham this summer as he pushes for a move to Nottingham Forest.
There have been plenty of new arrivals at Tottenham in the early days of the transfer window, but Bergvall is in line to be among the first departures.
Standard Sport understands he has submitted a transfer request in the hopes of improving his playing time and finding opportunities to play as a No8, his preferred position.
Tottenham have received plenty of interest in the player and rejected bids from Nottingham Forest and Newcastle.
Bergvall, though, has his heart set on a move, and De Zerbi is ready to let that happen, saying he only wants to work with players who have bought into his project.
