Transfer window change being considered as Nottingham Forest reportedly face new return date

New return date?

English Football League clubs, including Nottingham Forest, have been informed that the continuing coronavirus outbreak has made any chances of the 2019/20 football season resuming by April 30 impossible, a report from the Daily Mail has revealed.

It is claimed a new date for the re-start of the campaign is expected to be announced next week, following a meeting between the Premier League and the EFL.

The report claims football bosses have accepted that, due to the country currently in lockdown and players unable to train, the prospect of the campaign resuming on April 30 is not at all feasible.

The UK has been in lockdown since Monday evening when Prime Minister Boris Johnson addressed the nation, pleading for everyone to play their part and help slow down the spread of COVID-19.

Freedman's thoughts

Former Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman has opened up on a conversation he had with Reds old boy Djamel Abdoun.

Freedman was appointed Forest manager in February 2015, replacing Reds legend Stuart Pearce in the City Ground dugout.

The forward eventually returned to the City Ground, with new boss Freedman in charge, and was keen to impress.

Transfer change

FIFA are considering the possibility of making a significant change this summer’s transfer window that would affect Nottingham Forest.

Elite-level football right across Europe has come to a halt in recent weeks as the coronavirus outbreak of COVID-19 has swept its way across the globe, causing mass panic and chaos to multiple countries.

In England, the situation is no different, as all professional football has been suspended until April 30, at the earliest, as the country looks to try and slow down the spread of the virus.

Prior to the suspension, Forest were in fifth place in the league standings with nine fixtures left to play, and in with a shout of promotion to the Premier League.

Dawson defiant

Nottingham Forest captain Michael Dawson has reiterated his belief that the season should be completed, once football resumes following the coronavirus suspension.

The Reds’ season has been postponed until April 30, at the earliest, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, with Forest still due to play nine Championship fixtures.

European football officials met on Tuesday to hold talks and still hope to finish their domestic season by June 30.
