Transfer warning over Nottingham Forest summer target as Reds ace 'in thoughts' of Olympiacos

Carvalho latest

Nottingham Forest record signing Joao Carvalho is “in the thoughts of Olympiacos”.

But reports in Greece say a decision has not yet been made by the fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club over whether to make a move for the midfielder.

Carvalho has  been linked with a £15m switch  to the Greek giants ahead of the January transfer window - just as he was in the summer - as well as Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Court ruling

Nottingham Forest have scored a partial victory in a Court of Appeal battle with former owner Fawaz Al Hasawi over the financial fallout from his sale of the football club.

Mr Al Hasawi triumphed at the High Court in London in May and the club  were ordered to pay him £4.2 million.

Judge Stuart Isaacs QC said there were no sums to be set off against the amount, which Mr Al Hasawi paid in loans during negotiations over the club's sale to Greek shipping magnate Evangelos Marinakis in May 2017.

Transfer warning

New Aberdeen chairman Dave Cornack has issued a transfer warning over Nottingham Forest summer target Scott McKenna.

The Reds were linked with a move for McKenna during the summer, while the defender also attracted interest from other clubs across the country.

Forest and Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers put forward offers believed to be in the region of £3m, while Aston Villa were said to have had a bid in the region of £6.5m rejected.

Celtic, Hull City, Stoke City and Swansea City have also previously been linked with the 23-year-old, who is reportedly valued at somewhere  between £6m and £10m by his club.

Unwanted record

Nottingham Forest are determined to avoid falling victim to the December curse which has been a feature of recent campaigns.

The Reds have not won yet this month, drawing against Millwall and Middlesbrough before collapsing 4-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday.

And each December for the past three seasons, they have finished the month with a tally of one victory in six games.

With three more matches to be played before the calendar turns over to January, midfielder Ben Watson says Forest are desperate for history not to repeat itself this time around.
