Transfer rumours: Sheffield United set to sign Championship striker, West Brom rejected West Ham bid

The Championship season will be here before we know it - and the race is on to complete transfers before the deadline rolls around.

Clubs in the second tier have until Thursday, August 8 at 5pm to complete any remaining permanent or loan deals.

Transfer activity is starting to hot up.

We've seen Pontus Jansson depart Leeds United, completing a shock move to Brentford for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of around £5.5 million.

As well as plenty of ins at Nottingham Forest.

Brentford striker set for record Premier League move

Nel Maupay is to become Sheffield United's record signing.

Chris Wilder's newly-promoted Blades are to stump up £15 million for the Frenchman after the Bees lowered their asking price from £22m.

The Sun report the reason for that is because they became aware of Maupay's desire to test himself at Premier League level.

Maupay hit 25 goals in the Championship last season, a career-best in a campaign in English football for the 22-year-old.

West Brom reject cash-plus-player deal

West Bromwich Albion have rejected a cash-plus-player deal for star striker Salomon Rondon.

Rondon, a hit on loan in the Premier League at Newcastle United last season, is wanted by West Ham United.

According to Football.London, Slaven Bilic's side rejected an offer of £10m and Jordan Hugill and Sam Byram rejected .

The Baggies want straight cash, with Rondon's release clause £16.5m.

Man City to sign starlet

Manchester City are on the verge of signing 16-year-old West Brom star Morgan Rodgers.

The highly-rated England Under-17 midfielder is to cost around £4m plus add-ons, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Blackburn lead chase for Southampton man

Wigan Athletic have pulled out of the chase for Southampton striker Sam Gallagher.

According to The Sun, the Latics balked at the wages and fee required to land Gallagher, giving Blackburn Rovers the lead in the race to sign 23-year-old.
