Transfer platform used by clubs ranks 10 most valuable youngsters - with Greenwood fifth

The ever changing world of football transfers is now being influenced by algorithms regarding expected player values, with Manchester United's Mason Greenwood viewed as the world's fifth most valued youngster.

The 20-year-old has become a major player for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in recent years and is set to be a mainstay with club and country.

Clubs and agents conduct their business by using a host of platforms, with data and statistics central to that.

A player's age, current level, perceived potential, current club all factor in to their value. A player's agent can also be indicator.

And those at TransferRoom have a formula that works out a players expected transfer value (xTV) which is then used as a guide in negotiations.

Greenwood is not going to be leaving Old Trafford anytime soon but his xTV is €59.8m (£50.4m), making him the third most expensive Englishman on the list of stars aged under 21.
