Transfer news, rumours LIVE: Manchester United vetoed Raphael Varane move, Paul Pogba offered to Barcelona, Kurt Zouma to Everton, latest rumours, gossip
The Premier League transfer window may be shut but there’s still plenty to follow as European clubs look to finalise their plans this summer, while the deadline day fallout continues to be revealed with the details on every move that did and didn’t happen leaking out.
Everton and Fulham got their cheque books out to dominate the headlines, with the Toffees landing Fc Barcelona duo Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes, as well as Shakhtar Donetsk forward Bernard. They could yet sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea on loan, with confirmation yet to come on the late, late talks. Fulham meanwhile broke their transfer record with the signing of Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa for around £30m, while Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Luciano Vietto, Sergio Rico and Joe Bryan also moved to Craven Cottage.
Then there’s Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, who failed to sign anyone on deadline day – the latter becoming the first club not to sign a player in the summer at all since the transfer window was introduced – and we’ll bring you the latest fallout from the disappointing wiundows.
With the European transfer window still open, we will have all the latest news, late done deals plus all the latest reaction right here so don't touch that dial.
It was widely thought that Liverpool's Dominic Solanke would be joining Steven Gerrard at Rangers on loan, however the Ibrox manager confirmed that the reports were no more than "pure speculation."
While we continue to wait for confirmation on Kurt Zouma's loan deal from Chelsea to Everton, there is some breaking news, and Michy Batshuayi has joined Valencia on a season-long loan. There is no option for a permanent deal.
Although the transfer window closed on Thursday evening for English teams, clubs in Europe’s other major leagues can continue to buy players until August 31
Colombia midfielder Lerma completed his £25million switch from Levante this week - but boss Howe has revealed the World Cup star is not ready for action.
Real Madrid have issued a statement to announce that defender Theo Hernandez will spend the season on loan with Real Sociedad.
A brief statement read: "Real Madrid C. F. and Real Sociedad have agreed the loan of our player Theo Hernández for the upcoming season until the 30th of June 2019."
After being left disappointed at not being able to sign another striker, Neil Warnock is expecting Cardiff to move to use the loan market to add to their squad.
"We’ve had quite a number of offers but, first things first, lets get yesterday and tomorrow out of the way.
"Then we can concentrate on that. There are two or three lads looking to go out."
Fulham had a very successful transfer window and almost everything they wanted to happen came off.
The Premier League newcomers signed Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Timothy Fosu Mensah, Luciano Vietto, Joe Bryan and Sergio Rico on deadline day, but could have had Matt Targett.
Matt Targett (left) played for Fulham on loan last season, and football.londonare reporting that Fulham's early bid in the transfer window was rejected by Southampton, but the Saints told Fulham they could have him for that price on deadline day. The move did not happen because Joe Bryan's switch from Bristol City to west London was close to being completed.
With the added bonus of Europa League football at Turf Moor, you would imagine that Burnely would not struggle to sign players.
However, Sea Dyche is left unhappy at not being able to add to their three summer signings, Ben Gibson, Matej Vydra and Joe Hart.
"It's been the worst I've experienced," Dyche said after Burnley's 0-0 draw against Istanbul Basaksehir in their Europa League third-round qualifying match.
"Even some of the big, big clubs haven't got the player they wanted. And even more for us - we're spending pretty decent money now, if you're looking at £10million and £15million, and yet you can't scratch the surface. It's very frustrating and difficult and I've very pleased it's closed."
In his own unique, utterly bizarre, but brilliant way, Independent chief sports writer Jonathan Liew, says Jose Mourinho should embrace the late dashes in the transfer window.
Few West Ham fans will have imagined that they will spend £100m on transfers this summer, and James Corden has led the way in praising David Gold and David Sullivan.
Along with bringing Manuel Pellegrini to the club, West Ham signed: Felipe Anderson, Fabian Balbuena, Issa Diop, Lukasz Fabianski, Lucas Perez, Carlos Sanchez, Jack Wilshere and Andriy Yarmolenko.
Roy Hodgson has signed an extension to his contract, which was due to expire at the end of the year. The 71-year-old has signed a new deal to keep him at Selhurst Park until at least the end of the 2019/2020 campaign.
Hodgson joined Palace in September last year after Frank De Boer had lost his first three games in charge. It took Palace until their eighth game to score and win a match. From a perilless position, Palace survived and finished 11th in the table to secure a fifth straight season in the Premier League.
“I am delighted to have extended my contract with Crystal Palace," said Hodgson. "It is a club that has been close to my heart since I was a youngster growing up in the borough of Croydon, and having stood on the terraces in the 1950s, it is a wonderful thing to be managing my boyhood club all these years later.
“We can be proud of our achievements last season in turning things around despite a poor start, but this year we want to ensure we don’t endure the same struggles. I am thrilled that I have the support of the owners, who believe that I am the right man to help this club move forward and I will do everything I can to make that happen.”
Liverpool have spent close to £200m this summer. but manager Jurgen Klopp says it 'made sense' to spend big.
“For us it’s pretty normal that we’ll spend a bit more money. The last few years I’ve had to defend our transfer behaviour as we sold more than we brought it. But that all made sense.
“We have to create a squad that is strong enough and wide enough to cope with the PL and step-by-step become closer. People ask me if it’s the best squad I’ve ever had - I don’t think about that.
“It’s about what we make of it and how often we deliver, how often we bring ourselves in the mood to fight against teams who want our points. We have to be ready to fight.”
Steve Bruce wants Grealish to fulfil ambitions with Aston Villa after missing out on move to Tottenham
Throughout the summer window it looked likely that Jack Grealish would join Tottenham. Aston Villa's financial situation meant that quick funds were required to ease cash flow problems, which had Tottenham believing they could get a bargain.
Spurs failed to meet Villa's valuation and Grealish remains at Villa Park, despite his ambitions to play in the Champions League and for England.
"It is great for myself," said Bruce. "I can understand the disappointment from Jack, in some ways, but he has been terrific and respectable towards the club.
"Let's be fair, Spurs are a huge club in England and in Europe but he has taken the decision from the owner and hopefully we can move forward.
"He [Grealish] will hopefully take us to where we want to get to and fulfil his ambitions with ourselves. I think what is vitally important to everybody is that the owner has put out a statement of intent."
While Chelsea were unable to wrap up a deal to sign Nabil Fekir after late interest, or bring another striker through the doors at Stamford Bridge, their best bit of business was keeping Eden Hazard.
After guiding Belgium to third place in the World Cup, Hazard said that it might be time for him to move on from Chelsea. "After 6 wonderful years at Chelsea it might be time to discover something different. Certainly after this World Cup," he said. "I can decide if I want to stay or go, but Chelsea will make the final decision - if they want to let me go. You know my preferred destination."
Daniel Sturridge managed to remain at Liverpool and is hopeful of his first team chances this season.
Jurgen Klopp remains hopefully of his fitness and the impact he can have this year after a good pre season.
"He's still here and he played a good pre-season. He could do a lot of the sessions, there was only four or five days where he was out. I said it a few times: when Daniel is fit, nobody doubts him."
Real Madrid have identified Christian Eriksen as a possible replacement for Luka Modric should the Croatian midfielder leave the Bernabau, according to The Daily Mirror.
Mateo Kovacic has joined Chelsea on loan, which leaves the European champions a little light in midfield.
Modric, who left Spurs in 2012, is being linked with a move to Inter Milan, who are preparing to offer him a significant wage hike.
Madrid have until August 31 to complete any business, and will need to prepare a mega offer to tempt Spurs to part with this star man.
Bournemouth record signing left out of opening side
Eddie Howe says it would be "foolish" to throw record signing Jefferson Lerma into Bournemouth's Saturday's Premier League opening match against Cardiff.
Colombia midfielder Lerma completed his £25million move from Levante this week, but Howe has revealed the World Cup star is not ready for play.
"Jefferson's only had one training session with us," said Howe.
"He's come to us off the back of not training after the World Cup so that will be an issue for us, in the sense we've got to build up his fitness and help him acclimatise to the team and the squad.
"So there may be a period where people don't see him, but we want to get him up to speed.
"I'm sure there's other players who were at the World Cup who won't play this weekend.
"The difficulty for us is that Jefferson just hasn't trained.
"So to involve him ahead of players who have played a full pre-season would be foolish."
