Tuesday's transfer news: Juventus make Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino No 1 candidate to replace Max Allegri

Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and more are open for business with the summer transfer window now officially open.

A new centre-back is high on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's priority list at United with Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly and Leicester's Harry Maguire both options. It won't just be incomings at Old Trafford, however, with Paul Pogba a high-profile target for Real Madrid and Alexis Sanchez on his way out with Inter Milan and Juventus fighting it out for his signature - if he drops his wage demands. Liverpool could be active too as they look to go one better after failing to win the Premier League title by just a single point. Champions Manchester City are always big players in the market and could go big with the prospect of a potential transfer ban looming.

Take a look through the day's transfer news below:

Good morning and welcome to today's Independent transfer live blog.

The summer window is upon us with the Premier League’s biggest clubs set to spend, spend, spend as the sales re-open.

We'll bring you all the latest news plus all the done deals and the juiciest gossip throughout the day right here so don't touch that dial.

Without further ado, off we go.

Let's start with Manchester United where they could be about to smash their transfer record.

Benfica's Joao Felix is the man they want, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.

He'll set them back at least £105m with a number of clubs including rivals Manchester City also keen.

Staying at United and the Daily Star report that the club have set their price for Paul Pogba.

Real Madrid are desperate to sign the French international this summer with Zinedine Zidane understood to be personally pushing for the move.

And the paper reports United will accept a £138m offer. Over to you, Zinedine.

To Chelsea where the Blues are resigned to selling Eden Hazard this summer.

The Belgian's contract expires at the end of next season and he has no intention of signing another.

They could choose to keep him and lose him for nothing in a year's time but the Daily Mail reports they will not for fear of the FFP ramifications.

Real Madrid lead the chase for his signature.

Tottenham are keen on adding some help for Harry Kane up top this offseason.

According to the Daily Star that man is Celta Vigo's Maxi Gomez.

The 22-year-old Uruguayan international has a £43m release clause in his contract.

We shall see.

To Manchester City where Leroy Sane may be on his way out.

The Daily Record report that Bayern Munich have contacted City over a possible move for the German international this summer.

Sane failed to force his way into Pep Guardiola's starting XI regularly for much of the season and Bayern appear to be ready to capitalise.

Over to Liverpool now and something of a left-field option.

The Reds aren't expected to be big players this summer after a busy offseason last year.

But one man they could apparently be looking at is former German international Max Kruse.

With Daniel Sturridge on his way out Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a new striker and according to Sport1 the Werder Bremen star could be the man.

The managerial merry-go-round is in full swing.

Antonio Conte is the latest to jump aboard with the former Chelsea manager apparently set to become the next boss at Inter Milan, according to the Guardian.

Could another former Chelsea manager join him in Serie A?

There's lots of talk that Maurizio Sarri is the No 1 target for champions Juve. Hmmm.

Leicester City are desperate to keep Youri Tielemans but fear he could already be on his way out.

The Belgian international impressed on loan from Monaco with Brendan Rodgers keen to make the move a permanent one.

But the rumoured price tag of £40m as well as interest from across Europe could scupper their chances.

Some news for Crystal Palace fans where Connor Wickham has extended his contract at the club.

He extends until 2021.

Barcelona expect Chelsea to bid for Philippe Coutinho this summer, according to Goal.

The former Liverpool midfielder has failed to make the impact he would've liked at the Nou Camp following his £142m move last January.

Barca would sell for the right price, but any transfer to Stamford Bridge would of course be contingent on any transfer ban being lifted.

Manchester United have seen an offer of £95m turned down by Napoli for star defender Kalidou Koulibaly.

That's according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

United are desperate for defensive reinforcements this summer with Leicester's Harry Maguire also a target.

Sky Sports News are reporting that Manchester United are very close to signing Swansea's Daniel James.

Personal terms have reportedly been agreed with the player and the clubs are nearing a deal in the region of £15m.

Ex-Crystal Palace youngster Mandela Egbo has joined Darmstadt from Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer.

"I was immediately positively impressed by the fans, the atmosphere and the passionate, courageous style of play," Egbo said after visiting the Merck-Stadion.

"It's a great club that I think suits me."

PSG have told Kylian Mbappe that he won't leave the club this summer.

The French World Cup winner claimed he has "come to a turning point" in his career and that he is ready for more responsibility, "maybe at Paris Saint-Germain. Or elsewhere with a new project" at the Ligue 1 awards.

However, PSG have released a statement saying: "Strong links have united PSG and Kylian Mbappe for two years and that same story will continue next season.

Cristiano Ronaldo has told the Juventus hierarchy that he wants Jose Mourinho to take over as head coach, according to Tuttosport.

The pair have always had a strong relationship since working together at Real Madrid and Mourinho is keen to return to management after the miserable end to his reign at Manchester United.

Manchester City striker Nikita Parris has confirmed she will join European champions Lyon next season.

The England international is the all-time leading scorer in Women’s Super League and spent more than four years at City before seeing out the end of her contract.

Arsenal chief Vinai Venkatesham has claimed the club intend to sell any players with two years remaining on their contracts if they do not with to renew their deals, in a bid to avoid being held hostage in cases such as that experienced with Alexis Sanchez.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil both see their deals expire in 2021.

“When we are selling players we need to maximise the funds we get to reinvest in the team,” Venkatesham said. “We need to be really disciplined when we are dealing with senior players who are not towards the end of their careers.

Chelsea have confirmed that an automatic extension has been triggered in Olivier Giroud's contract, meaning he will stay at the club for another year.

The Blues had initially been open to letting the French World Cup-winner move on, with the 32-year-old craving more game time, however, the club have had their hands forced by the threat of a looming two-window transfer ban.

Norwich's Timm Klose has signed a three-year extension with the recently promoted side, keeping him at Carrow Road until 2022.

The 31-year-old was signed from Wolfsburg in 2016 and made 31 appearances last season.
